Digital Education Action Plan

To ensure that the new Digital Education Action Plan draws lessons from experience during COVID-19 crisis and supports education and training through the long-term digital transformation, the Commission is launching this public consultation.

Digital Education Action Plan

Learning from the Corona crisis: teaching, learning and technology in a changing world

The public consultation is to gather the opinions and experiences of all citizens*, institutions and organisations from the public and private sectors on the unprecedented Corona crisis, the related shift to distance and online learning and their vision for the future of digital literacy in Europe. The public consultation will run until 4 September 2020.

“The COVID 19 pandemic has caused the biggest disruption in education and training in Europe’s recent history. It affected 100 million students, teachers and educational staff worldwide, and many of them have turned to digital literacy to continue their academic year. For many of them, this was the first time they had made full use of digital technologies for teaching and learning. With this public consultation, we want to understand all these experiences and learn from them. We are all part of this discussion – let’s work together to ensure that the new eLearning Action Plan paves the way for truly inclusive and high quality digital education in Europe”.

The Digital Education Action Plan

The consultation is to be incorporated into the EU Commission’s proposal for a renewed action plan for digital literacy, which is expected to be published in September 2020. The digital transformation is one of the priorities of the EU Commission. The new action plan for digital literacy is expected to be a key aspect of the EU’s instruments for promoting the next generation.
